A wonderful 1916 Pen and Ink Portrait of a mounted Cavalry Soldier.

The Artist is a Sergeant in the Northamptoshire Yeomanry, a Cavalry Unit of the British Army who's history dates back to 1794.

Although massed Cavalry charges against modern machine guns were a thing of the past, the Cavalry Units were occasionally used to plug gaps in the Line during Battle and also for reconnaissance and delivering messages.
