A beautifully executed Pen and Ink drawing of Ernest Shackleton's famous 'Nimrod' during her Antarctic adventure to conquer the South Pole.
The British Antarctic Expedition of 1907-09 was the first of Shackleton's three expeditions to the Antarctic . He had been to the Continent with Captain Scott on the earlier 'Discovery' Expedition of 1901-04 but this was his first Polar voyage in charge on board the 'Nimrod'.
Shackleton got within 97.5 miles of the Pole.
