A 1915 Pen and Ink drawing of the Hampshire Constabulary's insignia and motto showing the Queen's crown and the Hampshire rose.
The 'Com Southton' motto refers to the City of Southampton rather than the County of Hampshire because until 1959 the official administrative name for the County of Hampshire was the County of Southampton.
This was never popular with anyone born in Hampshire, especially with those from Southampton's fierce rival City Portsmouth! Having been born in Fratton in Portsmouth myself I couldn't agree more!
