The Police Force continued
In England from the 1730's Local authorities paid for night watchmen and constables to patrol at night, and this led to Henry Fielding establishing the Bow Street Runners with a Police Station and a team of efficient paid constables in 1749.
As the Industrial Towns grew in the wake of the Industrial Revolution, Glasgow established its own Force in 1800, Rochdale and Oldham in Lancashire followed suit in 1825 and 1827.
Sir Robert Peel, the Home Secretary founded the Metropolitan Police in 1829. The new constables were nicknamed 'Bobbies' after him.
In 1856 a new Government Police Act made it compulsory for all English Counties and Borough's to have their own Police Force.
The rest is History.
