Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Can I get a refund if I change my mind or don't like the Picture when it arrives?
A - We abide by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 so if you don't like it or you change your mind you can send the Picture back for a full refund within 14 days of receiving it.

Q - What are the Shipping charges and is the Picture insured during delivery?
A - Free Shipping and Insurance is included within the UK and Northern Ireland.

A £50 charge applies to any area outside the UK and Northern Ireland.

Q - When should I expect to receive my Picture?
A - We aim to send Pictures within 2 working days. We use the Royal Mail 48 hour insured delivery service so if you are within the UK and Northern Ireland you should receive your Picture with 4-5 working days of placing your order. Please allow 10 working days for outside the UK and Northern Ireland.

Q - Are the frames and glass all from the same period as the Picture?
A - Yes, we always place Pictures in frames that are from the same period as the Picture.

Nearly all the frames are over 100 years old and made of solid Oak.

All frames have been polished with beeswax after having been refurbished as necessary,

have hooks and twine on the reverse and are ready to hang and enjoy.
We also use period glass. This can be slightly wavy sometimes and have inclusions of small air bubbles due to the manufacturing process at the time. This can be very different to modern transparent glass but we believe the period glass enhances the Picture rather than detracts from it. The glass can easily be changed for modern glass if you so wish.

Q - Do some Pictures have marks and blemishes?
A - Most of the Artworks on this Site are over 100 years old and have been laid down on paper.

Antique paper is much more susceptible to foxing and blemishes than modern paper.
The majority of Pictures on this Site are in excellent unmarked condition.

I made a decision that some Pictures, even though blemished, were rare enough to be placed on the Site and the purchaser could make their own decision on whether they wished to buy it.
All Pictures are clearly described in the Condition Section underneath each Picture for sale.
